ed/md supports Mind of the Student at their first-ever conference

Dr Chukwuemeka “Chuks” Nwuba, Dr Ally Jaffee, and Nutritank have collaborated to host ed/md: the UK’s first eating disorders conference for medical students.

An estimated 1.25 million people nationally have an eating disorder, and this number continues to climb. Yet, there remains a serious lack of knowledge by medical doctors when it comes to eating disorders. This is—in part—due to insufficient teaching at medical schools across the country.

ed/md hopes to address this information gap.

The conference will take place at The Bridge (a charity in the heart of London that works to reduce inequalities in health and wellbeing) on Saturday 25th February 2023—just before Eating Disorder Awareness Week.

ed/md will have many special guests, including the likes of Adam Kay and Megan Jayne Crabbe.
Half of all proceeds raised at the event will go towards Mind of the Student and the other half will go to Nutritank (a multi-award winning social enterprise dedicated to providing nutrition education within healthcare).
CEO at Mind of the Student says,
“We are incredibly grateful for ed/md to think of us and our charity, which works to advance mental health education in schools. Through this support and collaboration we can continue our important work in schools. The most common age of an eating disorder onset is between 12-25. Medical professionals must be educated on this – which is why the ed/md conference is crucial in supporting this.”
