[Buckinghamshire, UK] – Mind of the Student is proud to announce the launch of EmpowerU: Building a Healthy Mind and Future Programme, a holistic initiative addressing mental health challenges among young people aged 11–13 in Buckinghamshire, made possible through the support of the Young Futures Fund.
EmpowerU equips young people with tools for resilience, self-care, and emotional intelligence, while tackling key issues such as bullying, digital safety, and the link between mental health and nutrition. The programme responds to alarming local statistics from the OxWell Buckinghamshire Health and Wellbeing Survey (2021), which revealed nearly 1 in 4 young people have self-harmed, and 1 in 5 have taken an overdose.
“Young Futures Fund is excited to support Mind of the Student’s EmpowerU programme. This initiative will equip young people in one of Buckinghamshire’s most disadvantaged areas with the vital skills they need for a successful future. By investing in this programme, we are proud to contribute to the development of both the young individuals and the organisations dedicated to nurturing their potential.” – Grace, Programmes Manager for Young Futures Fund
EmpowerU will benefit 20 children and young people in Aylesbury South-West, focusing on improving mental well-being, reducing bullying, promoting safer online behaviour, and fostering resilience for life’s challenges.
“This programme is a lifeline for young people in one of Buckinghamshire’s most disadvantaged areas,” said Kieran Goodwin, Director of Mind of the Student. “EmpowerU not only addresses mental health challenges but helps participants build brighter, healthier futures.”
